On Time
As well as starting our work at a time that suits you, we also endeavour to complete your project on schedule. Sometimes, however, Mother Nature has other ideas and conspires against us but, weather permitting, we aim to stick to our timelines.
We are reliable and can handle urgent projects; we’re also flexible and able to work around your specific needs. No job is too big or too small for our experienced team.
Insurances and Licensing
We have all the necessary licenses that are required to carry out our work. This means we are covered, and likewise, so are you. We have worker’s compensation, public liability and home warranty insurance.
Then there are our licenses for painting and decorating, the company licence, supervisors licence, and high boom lift licence.
We also ensure that we comply with all Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards, with respect to our profession. The safety of our workers and clientele is of paramount importance to us.

Our Process
So, what happens after you agree to our quote, choose your paint, stain or finish, and we set a time to begin your project? These are the steps our skilled workers will follow.
Preparation
Preparing your building properly will ensure that paint doesn’t accidentally get where it shouldn’t. We do this by:
- Moving furniture and removing curtains and/or blinds.
- Using plastic and a drop sheet to cover any remaining items.
- Tape around the lights, tiles, door frames, handles and carpets.
Once everything is protected, we then move on to:
- Scrape off or sand flaky patches of the existing paint and plaster any cracks.
- Prime the area to be painted with a special cover stain primer, to conceal water stains or water damage.
- Remove any mould by cleaning and then treating the area with special chemicals. A mould resistant primer is applied so the problem doesn’t return.
- Areas such as kitchens, that have greasy walls, are cleaned with sugar soap and primed, if they need it.
- A flexible filler is used to fill any gaps.
- The filled areas are sanded with 120 or 180 grit sandpaper, so they are smooth and ready to accept new paint.
- If there are any holes in the woodwork, we fill them with a special putty-style timber filler.
Different Preparations and Painting of Various Areas
We work our way methodically through your property to ensure we work efficiently and effectively.
Interior Painting
Ceilings
We start with the ceiling, whether new or patched, by preparing it. It could be Gyproc, rendered, concrete, timer or bare surfaces. Following this:
- The surface is painted with a premium primer/sealant if needed, especially on patched or new areas.
- A first coat of premium ceiling paint is applied.
- Following this, once dry, it’s lightly sanded with a pole sander.
- The second and final coat of premium paint is applied.
Walls
The next areas we move onto are the walls, making sure we get a sharp line between these and the ceiling. Generally painted with a low sheen, washable paint, this means defects can easily be seen. Our skilled professional painters ensure the finish is flawless by using quality products — this includes the paint as well as the rollers and brushes used to apply it.
We obtain a sharp finish by cutting in on each wall where it joins the ceiling. Once this is done, we:
- Prime any new or patched areas with a premium primer or sealer undercoat.
- Apply the first coat of premium paint.
- Lightly sand the surfaces, once dry, with a pole sander, and hand sand any woodwork.
- Apply a top coat, using premium rollers and brushes, or spray them if needed.
Bathrooms
Your bathroom is prepared with the same care as other rooms in your home. All fittings are covered and all surfaces taped where they join the walls or ceilings, to make sure we work cleanly. We aim to give you a sharp cut, and straight finishes.
Special bathroom paint is used, which is resistant to mould and washable. Again, our experts will use high-quality utensils to apply your paint, ensuring there are no defects in the finished paintwork.
Woodwork
Any woodwork that is scheduled for painting is prepared by filling any gaps and lightly sanding. Premium quality enamel or water-based enamel will be painted over the woodwork, as required.
When we paint your woodwork, any bubbles or orange-peel effect will become a thing of the past. We make sure all our finishes are top quality, guaranteed!
We ensure a good coverage over the top area of doors, where moisture and water might leak through poorer paintwork, causing your doors to rot.
Wood Stain and Varnish
Wood that requires varnish or staining will be cleaned and, if necessary, a paint or stain stripper will be used. It’s worth noting that timber needs to be maintained every couple of years. If this hasn’t been done previously, then the wood may need to be stripped back in order to expose a fresh surface to give you the best results.
Once we are happy that your wood has been prepared as it needs to be, we apply a coat of premium wood primer. After this, two coats of varnish or stain are added.
Exterior Painting
Painting the outside of homes and other buildings requires a skill set that ASL painting has in abundance. We can access the exterior walls of new and old houses, as well as the roof and all those hard to reach places.
High rise buildings pose no problem to our experienced crews, who are used to handling big projects.
When tackling external jobs, the area is pressure washed first of all, to remove dirt and grime. It will then be prepared before we start painting.
High Access
Any equipment we need to access high areas, such as scaffolding, boom lifts, cherry pickers or scissor lifts, will be arranged. The cost of these will be added to your initial quote, so you know what to expect, and you will only get the one bill. This way, you know exactly what you will be paying upfront.
Driveways, Garages and Car Parks
External areas such as garages, driveways and car parks, need good preparation. There will often be stains from grease and oil that need to be removed. We do this by:
- Starting with a pressure wash, to get rid of greasy, oily stains and marks.
- If needed, we will use an acid to deep clean the area, we may also diamond grind it.
- Once prepared, two to three coats of driveway paint, paving paint or Premium Dulux epoxy are applied.
- For car parks, we use 2-pack tyre heat resistant paint.

During and After Painting
We have procedures in place to make sure your project progresses smoothly and is completed to your satisfaction.
Quality Control
Inspections are carried out on a daily basis, to make sure your job is going smoothly. We will check on the timeline of the project and ensure the quality of the work is to the high standards we set.
Our company director personally ensures all the painters are polite, courteous and respectful, before they are hired. We also make sure their skills are of the highest calibre to deliver superior workmanship. Your home will be treated as if it were our own, with complete respect and care throughout the project.
We care about the environment and don’t use any nasty chemicals when washing.
Safe access is provided for people using any area we are working on. We don’t want our painting to disrupt your daily life.
When a Project Is Finished
Before we leave you to admire and enjoy your new paint job, we go through all areas with you and inspect them. We want to make sure our clients are 100% satisfied with the work we have carried out.
Once you are happy that there are no defects, we pack up, clean up and leave everything spick and span. We will even vacuum and make sure the place is as clean as when we started, if not more so! Any furniture, blinds or curtains that have been removed by us will be returned to their original location.
We understand that accidents can happen. A toddler might get hold of a crayon and decide to supply you with some wall art, or you can accidentally scuff your paintwork. We will leave you some paint so you can do touch-ups here and there if you need to in the future.
All that then remains is for us to shake hands and say “Love you guys! Bye!”……… Until the next time.
